  Premier Club of the Murray

Everyone loves Echuca-Moama, home of Moama Bowling Club!

Our twin towns comprise of one of the most important and exciting heritage tourism destinations in Australia.

In the late 1800s, hundreds of wood-fired paddlesteamers churned up and down the Murray, Darling and Murrumbidgee rivers, carrying huge cargoes of wool, grain, timber and other produce from the inland.

It was an era of wild and colourful rivermen, of eccentric and courageous skippers whose names have become legends; and of natural disasters overcome with bravery and determination. All this was captured in the much-loved Australian TV mini-series “All The Rivers Run,” filmed entirely on location in Echuca.

Echuca was the hub of the old-time riverboat trade, where the boats came to unload their goods onto the newly built railway which carried them down to Melbourne, to be sent out all over the world.

Filled with boisterous characters and raw ambition, this pioneering town was ripe with fortunes to be made and lost, Echuca was the most important inland port in the nation at the time.
